September Moon

One of those unreasonably over sized full moons came up over Sauvie Island. It paved a golden path through the brown black water, as if inviting us to come that way. It didn’t take much to convince my sister, who was visiting, to go out in a kayak and follow the moon”s invitation. Surrounded by this golden reflection on the water and the shimmering lights of Portland on one side of us, we suddenly realized how invisible we would be to any barge or boat coming our way. A quick kayak to safety; but this golden moment is captured in our hearts.
